Our first built work. A rear single storey extension to a post war detached house on Kingston Hill in south west London.
The Swedish client wanted a ‘garden room’ as an addition to the main house and to engage more directly with the extensive garden and existing swimming pool.
Influenced by Gunnar Asplund’s weekend house in Stennas, the new extension is a simple building with a geometry offset to afford a more open westerly aspect towards pool and garden and set away from the main house by an intermediary or threshold zone.
The copper clad single pitched roof over the garden room with stainless steel cowling to chimney contrasts with the leadwork to the leading edge.
